Air Commodore Venkat Mare assumes charge as Barjhar air base

Indian Air Force (IAF) Air Commodore Venkat T Mare on Tuesday took over the charge of Air Force Station Borjhar in Guwahati.

He succeeded Air Commodore Shashank Misra.

The Air Commodore is an aluminus of National Defence  Academy, Khadakwasla. He was Commissioned in the Flying Branch of Indian Air Force as Helicopter Pilot on June 16, 1990, Guwahati-based Defence PRO said.

The Officer is an experienced Helicopter Pilot with 6000 flying hours and has extensively flown in North East as well as Jammu & Kashmir sector in various operational roles.

He has undergone Staff Course at Defence Service Staff College, Wellington and Higher Command Course at Army War College, Mhow.

Air Commodore Mare has previously Commanded an Operational Helicopter Unit in Northeast and an Air Force Station in Andaman & Nicobar Island.

The officer has also served in UN Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo.
