Integrated Coach Factory wins Arjan Singh Memorial Int’l hockey tournament

In a nail-biting match, Chennai-based Integrated Coach Factory defeated and South Central Railway headquartered at Hyderabad by 7-6 and bagged the 2nd Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial International Hockey Tournament held at Astro Turf Hockey Ground, 3 Base Repair Depot at Chandigarh Air Force station. The tournament which was started from April 15 had participation from 16 teams. Besides Indian teams, Air Force teams from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also participated in this edition, making it truly an international event, an Indian Air Force spokesperson said. Chennai won the match in the Penalty Shootout round. Mohit, Sanjay and Deepak scored two goals each while Shyam Kumar scored one goal for ICF, Chennai. For SCR, Hyderabad, Sheshe Gowda, Raju Pal and Ayush Dwivedi scored three, two and one goal respectively. Deepak of ICF, Chennai had been adjudged the best player of the tournament. IAF Chief ACM BS Dhanoa awarded the coveted trophy to the winners. He also felicitated the runners-up team and the members of the organizing committee. A total of 31 matches were played in the tournament wherein 202 Goals have been scored. The IAF Chief also felicitated former Indian international Hockey player Col GS Gill, International hockey player Harpal Singh, former services hockey player and Secretary Services Sports Control Board Group Captain RK Raksha (Retd), Col Balbir Singh (Retd) who represented India in the 1966 Asian Games and 1968 Olympics.
