Mirage 2000 crashed in Bengaluru , pilots killed

Two Indian Air Force pilots were killed when a Mirage 2000 aircraft crashed during the customer acceptance flight at HAL Airport in Bengaluru around 1030 am on Friday. The victims were identified as Sqn Ldr Sameer Abrol and Sqn Ldr Siddartha Negi. Both were from Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), a premier establishment in Indian Air force (IAF), which conducts flight testing aircraft.  While, Sqn Ldr Siddartha Negi, from Deharadun, was the June 2009, batch officer, the Sqn Ldr Sameer Abrol was commissioned in 2008, he hailed from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The official release from HAL read..."HAL regrets to inform that one upgraded Mirage 2000 aircraft crashed during the customer acceptance flight at HAL airport here today around 10.30 am resulting in loss of lives of two pilots Sqn Ldr Sameer Abrol and Sqn Ldr Siddartha Negi. HAL family expresses deepest condolences to the grief stricken families. The Company has initiated an inquiry into the accident in co-ordination with the Indian Air Force...."
