Sitharaman and Yogi launch defence corridor in Aligarh.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday urged the Centre to host the biennial Aero India Show in the state.  The Aero Show is slated to take place in February 2019 in Karnataka. Since inception in 1996, Bengaluru has been hosting this show.  Speaking at the inauguration of UP Defence Corridor in Aligarh, the chief minister said, “I request the defence minister to host the Aero India show in Uttar Pradesh. For this, we will provide all sorts of facilities. I assure you that there will be no challenges in it.” He made an appeal before defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was on the dais.  This would be the 12th edition of the show. Mr Adityanath also urged for an early announcement. “I also request you (Defence Minister) to announce it as soon as possible so that we can work on it,” the chief minister added. Earlier, Ms Sitharaman and Mr Adityanath launched the defence industrial corridor here.  The Narendra Modi-led NDA government had announced in 2018-19 Budget that they will launch two defence corridors in the country, aiming to give impetus to Make in India.  Tamil Nadu has got the second defence corridor.
