Mizoram: Assam Rifles recovers huge amount of foreign currency in Saiha district

Lunglei: In a major successful operation against anti-national activities, Lunglei Battalion under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered a huge amount of Foreign Currency on Saturday.

The operation was carried out near Zawngling, Block Tuipang of Siaha district based on specific information.

The team had specific information about movement of vehicle from Saiha -Tuipang- Zawngling- Chankang road axis on 03 December 22.

The Assam Rifles team established a Vehicle Check Post which intercepted the vehicle. During search operation huge amount of Myanmar and Indian Currency was recovered. 02 individuals were also apprehended.

Details of recoveries made are:

                     (a)    Myanmar Currency:-

                             73,43,700/ kyat (equivalent to  Rs. 2,84,568.72)

.                  (b)     Indian Currency:-

                             Rs 2,33,910/-

Apprehended individuals and recoveries made are being handed over to Customs department Lunglei.

Assam Rifles “Friends of the Hill People” over the years has become a force to be reckoned with in the fight anti-nationals. This operation is a huge setback for all anti-national activists.

The operation’s success would go a long way in establishment of peace and harmony along the Indo Myanmar Border.

Another incident

In a major successful operation against anti-national activities, Lunglei Batallion  under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered a huge Cache of War like stores (WLS) on Saturday.

The operation was carried out near Block Tuipang of Saiha district based on specific information.

Operation was launched by Assam Rifles personnels and Police representatives of Tuipang on 03 December 2022.

The team had specific information of possible smuggling of Weapon and War like stores moving in 03 kenbo bikes,which tried to evade the Mobile Vehicle Check Post in  general area Tuipang.

Spot checking was carried out and during checking War like stores were recovered and four individuals were detained.

Use of such war like stores could have endangered the lives of innocent people and led to various illegal activities.  This recovery has prevented the loss of precious lives. The recoveries made were:- 

   (a)  . 22 Rifles - 01 Nos

   (b)    NX 200 Antenna         (Perihole)    - 01

   (c)     .22 Amn                                           - 60 Rds

   (d)    .177 pellets                                                 - 03 box

   (e)     12 guage (70mm) Catridge               - 500 Amn

   (f)     Gun Powder - 22.42 kg

And various other tactical stores like, tactical vests, tactical gloves, air gun, combat uniform and boots.

Four Myanmar nationals were also apprehended.
