Assam Rifles and Custom dept official withs seized drugs in Mizoram

Aizwal: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Serchipp Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles has seized 39.04 lakh tablets of illegal Triprolidine HCL and Pseudoephedrine HCL Tablets worth Rs 390.4 crore in general area Ruantlang, Champhai of Mizoram.

The Assam Rifles also apprehended one individual on March 22.

Based on specific input, the Assam Rifles and Custom Department Champhai carried out a joint operation.

The team got the information about the consignment being sent to Myanmar from Aizwal for preparation of Methamphetamine tablets which were likely to be smuggled to India.

The seized consignment and apprehended individual was handed over to Custom department, Champhai for further legal proceedings.

“This is one of a kind and amongst the largest catches made by security forces in Mizoram,” the force said.

“Ongoing smuggling of illegal drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram.”

“Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have been successful in launching such operations against the illegal activities in Mizoram.”
