Shillong: After serving for 38 years in Indian Army and proceeding on superannuation, Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi on Saturday relinquished the appointment of National Cadet Corps’ (NCC) North Eastern Region’s Additional Director General.

On his last day in service, he laid the wreaths at War Memorial Shillong in remembrance of fallen soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty, Shillong-based Defence PRO Wing Commander Ratnakar Singh said.

He has handed over the duties and responsibilities to Brig RK Singh.

During his present tenure in service as ADG NCC of Northeastern Region, he pioneered the first ever Brahmaputra Sailing Expedition earning a mention in the Limca Book of Records 2019.

This was the first time that a single NCC Dte created a National Record since the raising of NCC in 1948.

His contingent also won the RD 2020 NCC Competition for the first time among 17 NCC Directorates of the country.

NER Dte also fulfilled almost 100 percent established vacancies for NCC cadets .
