Amritsar: Vigilant Border Security Force troops intercepted the movement of a drone suspected to be flying from Pakistan across the international boundary in the border area of Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, on Wednesday. Adhering to protocol, the BSF troops promptly tracked the drone’s trajectory to anticipate its dropping location.

In a well-coordinated effort, a comprehensive joint search operation was conducted with the Punjab Police in the expected dropping zone and its vicinity. At approximately 7.40am, the search party successfully recovered the drone from a farming field adjacent to Kalash Havelian village in Tarn Taran district.

The recovered drone has been identified as a quadcopter of the DJI Matrice 300 RTK model. The diligent observation by BSF troops, combined with the collaborative efforts of the Punjab Police, has once again thwarted an attempt to use a drone for illicit purposes across the border.

Incidents of smuggling drugs and weapons using drones from Pakistan into India have been on the rise in the past few years. The latest incident is a reminder that any lapse in vigilance has the potential to result in a major security situation in the country.
