Commissioned in the Indian Army’s Armoured Corps, the author went to become an Army Aviation pilot. He also commanded infantry battalions in insurgency-hit Assam and in Kashmir, in the early 1990s, served in the Siachen Glacier’s Indira Col – India’s northernmost point – to Andaman’s Indira Point – India’s southernmost point.
