Mizoram: Assam Rifles’ Aizawl Battalion recovers drugs worth over Rs 3.26 crore in Selesih

Aizawl: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, the Aizawl Battalion under the aegis of the Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted an anti-drugs operation and recovered drugs worth more than Rs 3.26 crore in Aizawl.

During the operation, three persons were detained after they were found to be carrying drugs.

An official informed that a joint operation was conducted by the Aizawl Battalion and Excise and Narcotics department based on specific information that contraband drugs were being transhipped at Selesih, Aizawl.

During the course of a detailed search, the following recoveries took place:-

(a) 50 Soap Case (653 Gram) Heroin No. 4, Cost: 3,26,50,000/- (Rupees three crore twenty-six lakh fifty thousand only).

(b) 01 x Yamaha R 15 (MZ 01T 6196)

(c) 01 x Hyundai Getz Car (MZ 01 E 4367)

Apprehended persons and Seized items were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Aizawl.

The Assam Rifles, rightly christened as “The Sentinels of the North East” have been relentless in their efforts against illegal activities in Mizoram.
