8 cases of terror atrocities in Kashmir reported in 2 months

Even after the security forces are putting extra vigil in Jammu and Kashmir over militant activities, eight cases of atrocities committed by terrorists have been reported in the last two months in the valley. On July 8, four terrorist barged into PDP worker Abdul Majid Dofru at Shahgund in Manasbal. When her wife tried to intervene, the terrorists hacked her to death. The terrorists fired on Aahraf Thokar, a resident of Bijbehara on July 6. He received multiple injuries. Currently, he is being treated at SKIMS in Srinagar, sources said. In an another incident on July 5, Constable Javaid Ahmad Dar was abducted from his house in Shopian and his body was recovered next day. The constable was involved in number of anti-terror operations in the valley. He was in the personnel protection detail of Shopian SSP, according to sources in the defence establishment. A 40-year-old Iqbal Kaba was fired upon by the militants on June 17. He was rushed to the district hospital in Anantnag, where he was declared brought dead. Militants also burnt a shop of a local in the same district. On June 14, around eight terrorists entered into the house of Ghulam Nabi Mir in Nilur of Pulwama district and beaten him along with his family members. On June 8, a resident of Kakapore in Anantnag Manjur Ahmed Pandit was attacked by them. Ayoob Waghay’s house was damaged by the militants and beaten him along with other family members in Pulwama on May 29. On May 25, Yakoob Waghay was abducted by the terrorists from his home in Gund Prang, Hajan. His body was recovered from a nearby field. The government on May 17 had announced the Non-Initiation of Counter Insurgency Operation in Jammu and Kashmir to mark the the holy month of Ramadan. On June 17, the government did not extend it further. Later, the BJP pulled out of Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP-BJP alliance government in the state.
