untitled Reacting over Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa’s thought of having peace and prosperity between both the countries through military cooperation, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said that the government will consider any peace attempt by the neighbouring nation seriously. On the sidelines of the inauguration of Stakeholders’ Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in the National Security and Defence, Ms Sitharaman said, “Any comment on wanting peace will definitely be taken seriously. Any comment.” A report by UK based think tank Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) said in an attempt towards friendlier relations with India, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other senior Pakistani officers think that the way to peace and prosperity between both the countries is through military cooperation with India. The two countries along with China will take part in joint military drills in Russia in September this year. On being asked about the decision taken by the Home Ministry not to launch counter terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir during “Ramadan” month, the minister said, “We should honour the policy which our home minister had announced. The policy had very clearly laid out how this is going to pan out and we shall abide by everything that has been announced.” On May 16, the Home Ministry asked the security forces not to launch any counter terror operations in the valley after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had urged the centre for it.
