Press Club of India, Uzbekistan’s journalists union ink MoU on Mutual Partnership and Experience Exchange

New Delhi: The Press Club of India and the Fergana regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan  have inked a memorandum of understanding on Mutual Partnership and Experience Exchange, at New Delhi.

The MoU was signed by senior journalist and vice president of the Press Club of India, Manoranjan Bharti and Muhammadjon Obidov, the Chairman of the Fergana branch of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, in the presence of Uzbekistan Embassy in India Charge d'Affaires Aziz Baratov, PCI’s incumbent and former secretary general, Neeraj Thakur and Vinay Kumar, respectively.

The document stated that the Press Club of India and the Fergana regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan have established the partnerships with equal rights.

“The sides will to assist each other in terms of information exchange between the media of the two countries, to organize mutual media tours and exchange of experience among journalists, will jointly hold forums, conferences, will mutually invite journalists from the two countries to creative competitions and other important events,” the document reads.

The journalists from both sides spoke about the consistently developing cooperation between India and Uzbekistan in recent years.

The journalists also discussed about the legal framework for media activities created on the basis of advanced international experience, ensuring freedom of speech in Uzbekistan, the strengthening place of non-state sources of information and social networks in the life of society, and the importance of international cooperation in this area.

Manoranjan Bharati, the Vice-president of the Press Club of India stated that the historical relations between the Uzbek and Indian peoples have today reached a qualitatively new level.

Vinay Kumar said that the media occupy a special place in the process of conveying the content to the masses.

The two sides expressed a unanimous opinion on the development of cooperation in this direction.

Farmon Toshev, the Member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan, Editor-in-Chief of the "Zarafshon" newspaper of Samarkand region, Journalist of Uzbekistan was also present in the meeting.
