Chetak helicopter crashes while landing at Arakkonam Naval Base

Three people on board a Chetak helicopter had a providential escape after the chopper crashed while landing at the INS Rajali Naval Air Base at Arakkonam, about 70 km from Chennai on Monday. Reports received said all three people, who were on board the chopper, were safe.  A techgnical snag was said to be the reason for the crash.  The authorities have ordered a detailed probe into the crash. The incident occurred when the Chetak CH-442 helicopter was returning to the Naval base at Rajali after carrying out dry winching dual sortie, resulting in damages to its main and tail rotors.
