Pune: Private sector defence technology firm Nibe Limited on Wednesday announced that it has successfully completed test-firing of its Suryastra universal rocket-launcher system. This marks a major milestone for indigenous development of rocket artillery.

The validation trials were conducted on May 18 and 19 at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, the company said in a statement.

According to Nibe, the launcher and rockets achieved high accuracy across two demonstrated ranges. For the 150km-class rocket, the circular error probable (CEP) was recorded at 1.5 metres, while the 300km-class rocket achieved a CEP of 2 meters.

Such figures indicate tightly grouped impacts around the designated target point, underscoring the system’s precision strike capability. Nibe received a purchase order in January 2026 under the Indian Army’s emergency procurement route for the supply of the Suryastra universal rocket launcher and associated rockets with 150km and 300km ranges.

The company said the latest trials validate performance characteristics required by the armed forces and position Suryastra as a long-range precision option for battlefield support and counterforce missions.

The universal rocket launcher is designed to integrate with multiple rocket calibres and warhead types, enabling rapid mission configuration. While the company did not disclose propulsion or guidance details, the reported CEP figures suggest an advanced guidance suite and robust flight control, features typically associated with modern precision artillery rockets.
