Nagaland: In a first, Indian Navy participates at Hornbill festival

Kohima: As part of the Indian Navy’s outreach program in the North East, the Indian Navy has participated in the Hornbill festival at Kohima.

The navy has also set up a large stall in the festival that focuses on providing information about the Indian Navy to the local youth, its contribution to national security and the various opportunities for employment as officers and sailors.

More than 4,500 visitors have visited the stall in the first five days.

The Indian Navy Band which performed at the festival, also gained immense popularity.

Indian Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar visited Nagaland on December 7.

During his visit, he was CNS called on chief minister Neiphiu Rio, and attended the Hornbill Festival at the Naga Heritage Village Kisama (121 km from Kohima), as the Chief Guest, and also interacted with the Naval veterans.

The CNS also Flagged-in the 3500km Indian Navy Motorcycle Expedition at the Hornbill Festival.

During his visit to Nagaland, Admiral Kumar met Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera IG AR North and interacted with personnel in HQ IGAR North.
