New Delhi: A 17-member delegation from the National Defence College (NDC), currently undergoing the 65th Course, conducted an academic-cum-strategic visit to Menchuka Valley in Arunachal Pradesh to gain first-hand exposure to the unique dynamics of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and to enhance their understanding of national security imperatives in India’s border regions.

The visiting delegation comprised 8 senior serving officers of the Armed Forces, 7 eminent officers from the civil services, and 2 representatives from friendly foreign nations.

This diverse composition underscores the integrated nature of the NDC’s academic framework, which encourages joint learning and cross-domain exchange of perspectives.

During their visit, the members engaged in on-ground familiarization with the operational environment in the high-altitude frontier areas.

They were apprised of the challenges and opportunities inherent in border management, infrastructure development, and strategic preparedness. Such experiential learning opportunities complement classroom studies at the NDC by providing officers with realistic insights into the complexities of India’s northern borders.

The visit to Menchuka Valley stands as a testament to the emphasis placed by the National Defence College on cultivating a deeper strategic consciousness among its course participants.

Exposure to the terrain, socio-cultural context, and operational realities equips the officers with invaluable perspectives, thereby enriching national policy formulation and fostering international cooperation.

This initiative highlights India’s commitment to strengthening leadership capacity, bolstering inter-agency coordination, and reinforcing strategic appreciation of its frontier regions.
