The Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat on Tuesday said a false propaganda is being spread about the security forces and the government in Jammu & Kashmir, aiming to divert the youths from mainstream. In an interaction with the school children from Chhattisgarh here, Gen Rawat said, “The youth of Jammu & Kashmir are being misled by some anti social elements. They are being told that they will get freedom if they pelt stones.” When a student asked what are the ways to deal with them, the General replied, “There are two ways --- harsh way or make them understand about the reality.” “We bring some of diverted youths to Delhi and say them see how peaceful life is here. It can also be brought in the valley too,” said the Army chief. On normalcy in the valley, Gen Rawat said, “The government is working hard to bring peace and prosperity in the state.” He also elaborated about the Army’s ongoing initiative of providing coaching to the students from valley and said, “There is need to have better schools to provide quality education. Quality education can change the mindsets.” A group of 20 students-led by two school teachers met the Army chief here and learnt the disciplined life of the soldiers.
