Indian Army begins process to procure 10 loitering ammunition launchers, 120 munitions

New Delhi: With an aim to strengthen its defence capability, the Indian Army has begun the process to acquire 10 loitering ammunition launchers along with 120 loitering munitions from domestic vendors.

These devices will be procured under the fast track procedure and to be deployed along the China and Pakistan borders in the northern and western sectors.

Days ago, the Indian Army had issued a RFI to for these devices and is expected to issue RFP in next 15 days.

The devices should have either high-explosive pre-fragmented (HEPF) or anti-armour warheads with minimum 8kg weight.

The Indian Army has sought from the vendors to have the product with two hours of endurance and capability to manoeuvre at an altitude of minimum 300m.

The all-weather loitering ammunition launchers must have atleast 100km range and accuracy of at least 2m circular error probable.

It must have the capacity to be fired from an altitude of 4,000m or more. It should also have capability to engage from any direction.

It must be operable in all terrains and all-weather ranging in temperatures from a minimum of -20°C to a maximum of 40-55°C.
