Indian Army personnel on expedition to Mount Kamet

Team members of Mountaineering Expedition to Mount Kamet led by Maj Manoj Joshi at New Delhi.

A 47-member team of the Indian Army will leave for an expedition to Mount Kamet – the third-highest peak after Kanchenjunga and Nanda Devi, on August 16. The expedition to Mount Kamet (7,756m), led by Major Manoj Joshi, is being conducted under the aegis of Army Adventure Wing. In this regard, director general of military training Lieutenant General AS Bhinder, on Monday, flagged off the expedition. The team will establish the base camp at Vasudhara Lake and advance base camp at Purvi Kamet glacier. After establishing four camps, they will attempt reaching the peak in last week of September 2018.
