New Delhi: The Indian Army achieved another milestone with the patenting of the ‘Vidyut Rakshak’, an integrated generator monitoring, protection and control system, a groundbreaking innovation developed by Major Rajprasad RS of the Corps of Engineers.

The system, “Vidyut Rakshak”, is widely employed in the Indian Army in the remote and high-altitude areas. An in-house innovation, the system enables integrated monitoring, protection and control of multiple generators and power systems which are agnostic of type, make, rating or vintage, thereby optimizing resources and enhancing operational efficiency.

The patent certificate read: “It is hereby certified that a patent has been granted to the patentee for an invention entitled Integrated Generator Monitoring Protection and Control System as disclosed in the abovementioned application for the term of 20 years from the 13th day of June 2023 in accordance with the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970.”

Apart from this, Maj Rajprasad’s another innovation ‘Portable Multi Target Detonation Device (WEDC)’ was also granted patent last year.

The “Portable Multi Target Detonation Device” is a microprocessor-based electronic system that functions using both wired and wireless modes of firing.

The wired connection enables it to connect with the command-and-control system, while the wireless mode allows it to be detonated without any wires or electrical connection.

The WEDC has a long range of 2.5 kilometres, which is significantly longer than the 400-metre range of the previously used Exploder Dynamo Capacitor systems.

In June this year, he received the ‘NSG Counter IED Innovator Award’ for his two innovations, “Agniastra – Multi Target Portable Remote Detonation System” and “Shatrunash- Handheld EMP Gun.”
