New Delhi: During his visit to forward areas in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the operational preparedness of troops deployed along the Line of Control and interacted with personnel at forward locations.
He lauded the soldiers for their high morale, professionalism, and sustained operational readiness.
As part of the visit, the Army Chief stopped at Kamsar village, where he met Subedar (Honorary Captain) Parvez Ahmed (Retired) of the 18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.
The meeting marked a reunion between former comrades who had served together on multiple occasions, including during General Dwivedi’s tenure as the battalion’s Commanding Officer from 2002 to 2005.
Subedar Parvez Ahmed was commissioned into the Indian Army in March 1991 and retired in March 2019 after completing 25 years of distinguished service.
During his career, he held several operational and instructional appointments, including assignments as an instructor at training establishments.
He successfully completed numerous specialised courses and received commendations for his dedication and performance.
After retirement, Subedar Parvez Ahmed continued to contribute actively to society and remained closely associated with the Army.
During Operation Sindoor, he played a vital role in supporting deployed troops through logistics assistance and local coordination, leveraging his deep knowledge of the terrain and long-standing association with the unit.
His efforts, undertaken at personal risk during periods of heightened tension, earned him formal recognition from the Army.
In acknowledgement of his continued service to the nation and his contribution during Operation Sindoor, the Army Chief felicitated him with the Veteran Achiever Award.
