Sapta Shakti Command: Army personnel honoured for exceptional bravery

Bikaner: Indian Army’s Sapta Shakti Commander Lieutenant General Alok Kler on Saturday awarded gallantry and distinguished service medals to Army personnel at an impressive and solemn Investiture Ceremony conducted at Anant Vijay Auditorium in Bikaner.

A large number of senior army officers, distinguished dignitaries and other guests graced the occasion.

One Yudh Seva Medal, twenty Sena Medals(Gallantry), two Sena Medals (Distinguished Service) and six Vishist Seva Medals were awarded, Rajasthan-based Defence PRO Col Sombit Ghosh said.

Paratrooper Mukut Bihari Meena and Sepoy Mandeep Singh made the supreme sacrifice during operations and were given the award posthumously.

Twenty One units were awarded the “Sapta Shakti Army Commander’s Unit Citation” for their outstanding contribution to the nation and Indian Army, he added.

The Commanding Officers and Subedar Majors of the units received the prestigious award from the Army Commander.

The Sapta Shakti  Army Commander, Lt Gen Alok Kler later interacted with the award winners and their families and acknowledged their invaluable contribution towards maintaining the highest standards of professionalism as exemplified by the Indian Army.
