Soldier dies after stepping on landmine in Kargil sector along LoC

New Delhi: An Indian Army soldier was killed along the Line of Control in Kargil sector when he accidentally stepped on a landmine, sources in the Army said on Sunday.

“An unfortunate incident along the LC in Kargil Sector. Accidental stepping over an old unexploded explosive device,” sources added.  

The incident is not related to Eastern Ladakh or LAC, they said.

The incident took place on Saturday night, they said.

The soldier has been identified as Dev Bahadur, aged 24. He hails from Gauri Kalan village of Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand. He joined the army in 2016.
