Sri Lankan army delegate visits Central Command establishments

Aiming to further develop bonhomie between both the armies, a delegation of Sri Lankan army visited scores of Indian military establishments in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.  “A 6-member delegation that include one Officer and five Warrant Officers of Sri Lankan Army arrived in Bareilly on July 15, 2018. The delegation visited various formations and training establishments of Headquarters Central Command,” a defence spokesperson said. The aim of the Sri Lankan delegation visit is to develop bonhomie and enhance mutual understanding between the armies of both the countries, the spokesperson added. In addition to the planned visit to Headquarters Uttar Bharat Area, Junior Leader Academy, Bareilly and 39 Gorkha Training Centre, Varanasi, the delegation also visited Officer Training Academy in Gaya, where they interacted with the Sri Lankan Cadets undergoing training at the Academy followed by a visit to Bodh Gaya and Sri Lankan Monastery.  They also visited the Ganga Ghat and Sarnath at Varanasi as part of a cultural and heritage tour. Both the Armies share a close and sound bonds of military cooperation and mutual long lasting bilateral understanding. This visit epitomises the efforts towards broadening of spectrum of military interest benefiting both the nations.
