New Delhi: Amid the rising tensions between India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh, armies of India and China are scheduled to hold the fifth round of Corps Commander-level talks at Moldo on the Chinese side on Sunday.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1100 hours, sources in the Indian Army said here on Sunday.

The agenda of the meeting would be to press for complete disengagement in the Finger areas and Gogra near LAC in Eastern Ladakh, sources said.

In the Pangong Tso area in eastern Ladakh, the Chinese troops have strengthened their positions between Finger 5 and 8. India is likely to take this up at the 5th round of Corps Commander-level talks today. The previous talks took place on July 14.

On July 30, India had said that the disengagement process has yet not been completed in Eastern Ladakh. However, China has claimed that the process is completed.

"There has been some progress made towards this objective but the disengagement process has as yet not been completed," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava had said on Thursday during a virtual weekly press briefing here.

The MEA spokesperson had also said the senior commanders of the two militaries will be meeting in the "near future" to work out steps towards carrying forward the disengagement exercise.

Mr Srivastava had also noted that India expects that the Chinese troops will "sincerely" work with it for "complete disengagement and de-escalation" and "full restoration" of peace and tranquility in the border areas at the "earliest" as agreed during talks between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

India and China have been engaged into border standoff since early May. It had also led to violent clashes between two forces in the Galwan Valley on June 15, killing 20 Indian Army personnel. However, the Chinese side also suffered casualties but they have yet not revealed any figure.
