New Delhi: Expressing condolences to the people and the government of Yemen, India on Thursday strongly condemned the attack at an airport in southern Yemeni city of Aden.

A large explosion struck the airport on Wednesday, shortly after a plane carrying the newly formed Cabinet landed there, wherein at least 25 people were killed and 110 wounded in the blast.

“The killing of innocent civilians is unacceptable and cannot be justified for any reasons whatsoever,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said in a statement on Thursday here.

“We hope that the recent efforts for achieving peace and stability in Yemen will continue for an inclusive and negotiated settlement,” he added.

Yemen’s internationally recognized government said Iran-backed Houthi rebels fired four ballistic missiles at the airport.
