Navy kicks-off 2nd leg of car rally to motivate youth

2018-05-09-PHOTO-00000845 With objectives to showcase its achievements and motivate youth to join the force, the Indian Navy on Wednesday kicked off the second leg of Car Rally expedition on Tuesday to Leh. “The Sea Warriors now head north and will encounter challenging terrains with heights up to 18000 feet in their 1000 km journey to Leh,” the Indian Navy Spokesperson said. The rally will pass through Chandigarh, Manali, Palchan, Patsio, Karu, Pongong Tso and Tangtse braving arduous mountainous terrain as part of leg 2. The rally would return from Leh through Spiti Valley near Indo-Tibet border, Shimla and reach Delhi on May 27. In the last leg, the rally is being routed from Agra, Mhow, Nashik and culminate at Mumbai. “An ‘Outreach Programme’ has been organized to commemorate Golden Jubilee of the Western Naval Command by Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. This unique ‘Outreach Programme’ is intended to provide an opportunity for interaction of yard personnel with Indian citizens and spread awareness about the pivotal role of the Indian Navy in safeguarding the nation’s interests,” the spokesperson added. During this period, the defence personnel will also be interacting with students from various schools and colleges and share with them achievements of Indian Naval forces. Over 120 defence personnel will participate in this rally. The event is being organised in partnership with Indian Oil, Mahindra and Nayara Energy, the erstwhile Essar. The team as part of the Outreach Programme will also create awareness amongst rural and urban population to join the Indian Navy as both service personnel and skilled tradesman.
