Sushma concludes her visit to Kyrgz, leaves for Tashkent

External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj was on a bilateral visit to Cholpon Ata in Kyrgyz Republic on August 3-4. During the visit, she called on Sooronboi Jeenbekov, President of Kyrgyz Republic and had meetings with foreign minister Erlan Abdyldaev in restricted and extended formats. During the delegation level talks, Swaraj had the opportunity to interact with senior officials from IT, health, tourism, energy and natural resources of the Kyrgyz government and discussed possible areas of collaboration. During the meeting, entire template of bilateral relations were discussed covering all areas of cooperation, including political and parliamentary exchanges, defence and security, science and technology, economic, health and tourism. The two ministers expressed satisfaction at the progress of bilateral relations by taking forward the decisions taken during high level visits in 2015 and 2016 and discussions held on sidelines of SCO Summit in Qindao. The minister congratulated Kyrgyz Republic for taking over as Chair of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) SCO in 2018-19 and assured full cooperation in successful conduct of meetings and SCO Summit in 2019 to be held in Kyrgyzstan. The two ministers also took the opportunity to discuss other issues of regional and international interest. Her visit further consolidated the warm and cordial multi dimensional relations between India and Kyrgyz Republic. The visit has added to high level exchanges between India and Kyrgyz Republic in the past few years since visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2015, according to a MEA release. After concluding a focused and result-oriented visit, Swaraj took off for Tashkent, Uzbekistan for the final leg of her three-nation visit, MEA’s official spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted. He said that Kyrgyz foreign minister Abdyldaev came to the airport to see off the external affairs minister. The Kyrgz foreign minister has also accepted her invitation to visit India.
