CDS Gen Rawat concludes his forward bases visit in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat on Sunday met Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel deployed in the forward most air maintained post along Subansiri valley in Arunachal Pradesh.

Before concluding his two-day visit to operational bases in Arunachal Pradesh, which began on Saturday, the CDS complimented soldiers for adopting innovative measures for surveillance through locally developed technology and the defence preparedness to face any challenge.

Gen Rawat said that he was satisfied by the high morale and motivation of all ranks who will ensure certain victory if challenged or given the opportunity.

On Saturday, he visited several air bases located in forward areas near the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh and took stock of India's overall security scenario in the eastern sector.

His visit comes after completion of one year in office.

The Army and the Indian Air Force have significantly bolstered their combat readiness in all the key formations along the LAC including in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim in view of the border row with China in eastern Ladakh.

In November, Chief of Army Staff Gen MM Naravane paid a three-day visit to various formations under the Army's Eastern Command and reviewed their overall operational preparedness. The Kolkata-headquartered Eastern Command is responsible for guarding the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh as well as the Sikkim sectors.

He is scheduled to return to New Delhi later in the day.
