Tezpur: The Indian Army has organised an All Girls Cycling Expedition from Udalguri to Dirang as part of Operation Sadbhavana initiative.

This trip will provide an opportunity to 20 teenage girls hailing from various regions of North East to an adventurous way of life, Tezpur-based Defence PRO Lt Col Harsh Vardhan Pandey said.

The aim of the trip is to create awareness amongst the students about unity, diversity and cultural fabric of our nation.

Indian Army is using adventure sports activity like cycling to come closer to populace and develop a bond of mutual faith and truth.

The Army by virtue of its reach across the state has made an effort to wean young minds from negativity and instead moulding them into positivity and enabling them to become responsible citizens of tomorrow, he added.

An exclusive Girls Expedition will provide an excellent opportunity to students in their formative years towards women empowerment.

The expedition was flagged off at Rangiya Military Station on Tuesday.

During the duration of the expedition the team will be visiting picturesque Sengti Valley, local monasteries around Bomdila and tribal Dzong village.

The team will be traversing through Balemu, Kalakatang, Rupa & Bomdila.
