New Delhi/Amsterdam: India’s young squash sensation Amarya Bajaj has added another achievement to his rapidly growing résumé by winning the Dutch Junior Open 2026 Under-13 Boys’ title. He defeated some of the world’s best junior players in a display of skill, determination, and mental toughness.
Having taken up squash at the age of just nine, Amarya’s rise has been extraordinary. His breakthrough came in 2022, when he beat the top seed at the Northern India Open in Delhi, announcing himself as one of India’s brightest young squash talents. Since then, he has consistently climbed the ranks, earning success across Indian, Asian, and European tournaments.
At the Dutch Junior Open, Amarya showed exceptional consistency throughout the tournament. He began his campaign with a convincing victory over an Egyptian opponent before overcoming a strong challenge from an English player in the second round.
In the pre-quarterfinals, he beat the No. 1 player from Singapore, Kaelen Evan Low, 3-0, followed by another win over a top Egyptian player in the quarterfinals.
His toughest test came in the semifinals, where he beat the European No. 1 from Hungary, Alex Kosztyu, 3-0, to secure his place in the final. There, Amarya produced another strong performance, defeating the top-seeded English player to lift one of Europe’s most prestigious junior squash titles.
With this landmark victory, Amarya has written his name into Indian squash history by becoming only the second Indian boy ever to win the Dutch Junior Open and the first Indian boy to capture the Boys Under-13 title.
The achievement further underlines his status as one of the brightest young talents in world junior squash.
The triumph comes just weeks after Amarya won the silver medal at the 2026 Asian Junior Championships in China, further strengthening his reputation as one of the world’s most promising young squash players.
With two Asian Junior Championship medals already to his name at just 12 years of age, along with a major European title, Amarya has firmly established himself on the international junior squash circuit.
His latest success is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for Indian squash, reflecting the emergence of a new generation of players capable of competing with – and defeating – the world’s finest junior talent.
As 12-year-old Amarya Bajaj continues his remarkable journey, Indian squash enthusiasts will watch with growing excitement as one of the country’s most gifted young athletes takes confident strides toward an even brighter future on the global stage.
