Recruitment rally to be organized in Reasi and Rajouri areas: Gen Rawat

New Delhi: Stating that the religious leaders could play a vital role in shaping the young minds, Indian Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat on Tuesday said that the army will conduct a recruitment rally in Reasi and Rajouri areas in a bid that the youths can join the defence forces.

As part of Operation Sadbhavana, The religious teachers represent the major religions in the valley and included 15 Maulvis, four Pandits and two Granthis interacted with the Army Chief and put forward their suggestions for the development of their areas.

“Recruitment rally can be organized in their areas so that the youth from these areas can join the defence forces or even the police forces can organize recruitment rally along with us,” Gen Rawat told reporters here.

“'I am also happy to note that the areas (Reasi and Rajouri) these people are coming from, there is hardly any militancy in these areas, people are happy,” he added.
The capacity building tour, the first of its kind, showcases the secularism and unity of the Kashmiris working towards development of the region, the Army said.

“Religious teachers who are maulvis, granthis and pandits who have gathered here as part of national integration tour, it highlights how communities in Kashmir can live together,” the Chief added.

Gen Rawat exhorted the teachers to work towards maintaining peace in the region and promised full support to them towards fulfilling their local requirements.

The total duration of the visit is eight days, starting on November 2.

During the conduct of the tour, these teachers will be taken to Wagah – Attari Border, Gobindgarh fort, Golden Temple at Amritsar, India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, Akshardham Temple, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Select City Walk Mall at Delhi, Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Pushkar Lake at Ajmer.
