New Delhi: The Indian Army and the Kyrgyz Armed Forces are currently participating in the 13th edition of the joint military exercise Khanjar at Missamari in Assam, aimed at enhancing defence cooperation, interoperability and tactical synergy between the elite forces of both nations.
The exercise, which commenced on February 4, will conclude on February 17. Held annually since its inception in 2011, Exercise Khanjar is conducted alternately in India and Kyrgyzstan.
The joint drills bring together specialised contingents from both countries to train in counter-terrorism operations and special forces tactics under a United Nations mandate framework. This year’s edition focuses on simulated operations in both urban and rugged terrains, fostering operational coordination and strengthening mutual understanding between the participating troops.
The intensive training modules are designed to enhance responsiveness across diverse operational environments and improve joint mission readiness.
“This edition reaffirms the shared commitment of India and Kyrgyzstan to addressing evolving security challenges, particularly international terrorism and extremism, while deepening mutual trust, defence ties and regional stability,” Indian Army PRO Colonel Nishant Arvind said.
Over the years, Exercise Khanjar has evolved into a cornerstone of India–Kyrgyzstan defence cooperation, reflecting the two nations’ enduring commitment to peace, security and professional camaraderie between their armed forces.
