New Delhi: Indian Army and French Army will begin their 8th edition of biennial joint military exercise Shakti at Camp Larzac, La Cavalerie in France from June 18.
The 2-week biennial India-French joint military Exercise Shakti will witness participation of 90 personnel from a Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Personnel from other arms and services will also be the part of the Indian contingent. These members have departed for France on June 17.
From France side, similar number of personnel from the 13th Foreign Legion Half- Brigade (13th DBLE) will be participating in the exercise.
Know about Exercise Shakti:--
A biennial training engagement between the Indian and French Armies, Exercise Shakti is aimed at enhancing interoperability, operational coordination, and military to military connect.
The 8th edition of the joint exercise will focus on joint operations in a sub-conventional environment under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, with training being conducted in semi-urban terrain.
The exercise will also provide a platform for both contingents to rehearse and refine tactical drills, share best practices in Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), train on new generation equipment (contemporary military technologies) and strengthen physical endurance.
“It will also foster esprit-de-corps, mutual respect and professional camaraderie between the two armies,” Indian Army spokesperson Colonel Nishant Arvind said.
Exercise Shakti-VIII “underscores the growing defence cooperation between India and France and will strengthen strategic ties between the two friendly nations.”
