Chandel: Sewa International, in collaboration with the SBI Foundation, inaugurated the SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels on Friday in Chandel district of Manipur, marking a significant stride toward strengthening primary healthcare access in remote and underserved regions of the state.
The mobile medical unit (MMU) will operate across 20 villages in Chandel district, offering a range of primary healthcare services including regular medical consultations, preventive health screenings, and referral support.
The initiative aims to bring quality healthcare closer to communities living in far-flung areas with limited access to medical facilities.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mrugank Paranjape, Chairman, Sewa International, and Jagannath Sahoo, President & COO, SBI Foundation, as chief guests.
Other dignitaries present included L Nandakumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel; Dharmendra Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Chandel; Joyson M. Monsang, Chief Medical Officer, Chandel; Serbum Sakchung, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Chandel; Rajaram Chavan, Senior Manager – Health and Women Empowerment, Sewa International; and Ts. Chamna, Additional Superintendent of Police, Chandel.

In his opening address, Jinesh Lal, Executive Director, Sewa International, shared insights into the organization’s ongoing interventions in Manipur and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing health and wellbeing in rural communities.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagannath Sahoo emphasized SBI Foundation’s mission of “serving the underserved” and highlighted how the SBI Sanjeevani program reflects the organization’s dedication to inclusive development through healthcare accessibility.

Mrugank Paranjape elaborated on Sewa International’s vision of creating sustainable healthcare delivery models and the role of partnerships in driving long-term community impact.
The dignitaries underscored the need for collaborative efforts between government departments, law enforcement agencies, and civil society to ensure equitable health services reach every corner of the state.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by TS Chamna, Additional SP, Chandel, who expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their continued support and commitment to the initiative.
The SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels program is part of SBI Foundation’s broader effort to ensure “Health for All”, complementing the Government of India’s vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
By reaching the last mile, this initiative will deliver essential healthcare services directly to those who need them most, promoting healthier and more resilient communities across Manipur.
