New Delhi: To mark International Women’s Day 2026, the Army Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) has organized blood donation camps at multiple locations across the country.

The noble initiative drew wide participation from spouses of Indian Army officers and jawans, AWWA beneficiaries and volunteers.

Began on March 6 at Shankar Vihar Polyclinic in Delhi, the drive continued till March 9 at Base Hospital Delhi Cantt, where nearly 250 women donated blood.

“Camps were simultaneously held at various stations across the country,” an AWWA member said.

Leading by example, the Army Women’s Welfare Association President, Sunita Dwivedi donated blood at Base Hospital Delhi Cantt.

The camp was conducted with the support of the hospital’s medical team, with strict adherence to safety and medical protocols.

“The initiative reflected AWWA’s broader mandate of community welfare and service, with participants drawn from across the army community.”

Beyond health drives, the AWWA runs skill development programmes, educational scholarships, financial assistance for widows, health awareness campaigns and vocational training.

It has also expanded outreach through online workshops, counselling, financial literacy programmes and virtual entrepreneurship training for beneficiaries across locations.
